How the freelance project price is calculated

QuoteBridge converts an estimated scope into a defensible fixed price with a simple, transparent formula:

Planned hours = deliverable hours × (1 + contingency%)
Labor = planned hours × hourly rate
Subtotal = labor + direct expenses
Total = subtotal ÷ (1 − platform fee%)
Deposit = total × deposit%  ·  Balance = total − deposit

Worked example

A web developer charges $65/hr, estimates 20 hours of work, adds a 10% contingency, $50 of stock assets, no platform fee, and a 50% deposit:

  • Planned hours: 20 × 1.10 = 22 hrs
  • Labor: 22 × $65 = $1,430
  • + Expenses: $50 → Subtotal $1,480
  • No platform fee → Total $1,480
  • Deposit (50%): $740 · Balance: $740

Frequently asked questions

Do revisions change the price?

No — revisions are listed in the client quote for clarity. They only affect the price if you add their hours as a deliverable, so you stay in control of what's included.

Why does importing my Minimum Viable Rate set the platform fee to None?

Your MVR already includes platform fees and taxes. Applying a platform fee again would charge it twice, so QuoteBridge sets its own fee to None after an import and tells you it did.

Is a deposit required?

It's optional, but recommended. A deposit protects your time and signals commitment. Set it to 0% to quote a single final price.

Is my project data private?

Yes. Everything is calculated on your device and saved only in your browser. No client names or project details are ever placed in the page URL or sent to a server.
